Want to Teach in China? 2013 Possibilities in Xi'an at the Bodi School

The head of the Bodi School in Xi'an is looking for 1-2 teachers teaching in the following areas:

History/TOEFL/ESL

The Bodi School is a private K-12 school in the suburbs of Xi'an, China. It is one of the first such schools in China, and has been at its present location in since 1993. It includes a program in English to prepare Chinese students for entry into American universities.

This year there are job openings in History and TOEFL/ESL. The complete job descriptions including salary and dates of employment are forthcoming, but will be similar to last year's, which can be found here. In general, terms of employment would begin September 1st and will run until mid-June of 2014. The teaching load is similar to the teaching load of an instructor in an American high school. Further, It's been my observation that candidates do not need extensive experience in ESL to qualify.

The opportunities for travel are abundant, especially during the first week of October during the "Golden Holidays" period.  Xi'an itself is a fascinating city, centrally located in China, making it an ideal anchor for visits to all points of the compass.

As a Cal Poly Emeritus Professor, I've had an opportunity to teach several times at the Bodi School and have found it a stimulating experience on each occasion. I've agreed to advertise the positions in the US, answer questions about the Bodi School and their expectations (to be the best of my ability) and to send on the names of candidates for whom I see an good "fit".

Those interested should send a short vita to me at jcmanleyy@gmail.com by July 1st.

June 1st, Young Students Day

Bodi School celebrates June 1st with performances all day. The 1st-
graders are so cute! This is near our hotel entrance.

Door to door - About 24 Hours.

It seemed like one long night. Left Claremont before 8 pm Sunday, caught the 11:30 flight. They closed the windows and we landed in the dawn about 5 am, but 2 days later by the calendar. This is the best way!
